At Impress Computers, we’re rolling out an upgrade to your email security: INKY.
View the INKY demo here:
https://inky.storylane.io/share/lqswoqpjgb4x
You’ll notice two big changes:
- Color‑coded security banners at the top of certain emails (instead of the old blue Graphus banner).
- A new INKY User Dashboard where you can manage your own allow list and block list.
This post walks you through how the banners work, and how to take control of your personal email settings.
Yellow Banner: “Graymail” / Bulk Email
A yellow banner means INKY has classified the message as graymail – legitimate bulk or marketing email that you may or may not want.
You’ll see text similar to:
“This message appears to be graymail, or bulk mail that you may not wish to receive. If you do not think it is safe to unsubscribe, report the message as Spam and choose to block the sender in the future. If you do wish to receive mail from this sender, report the message as Safe and add a personal allow list entry to stop showing this warning.”
On the right side of the banner:
- Not Graymail – Click if you do want these emails and want them treated as normal.
- Spam – For junk you don’t want.
- Phish – For suspicious or scam‑like messages.
- More… – Opens the detailed Report This Email page.
- FAQ and Protection by INKY – Helpful reference links.
Grey Banner: “Neutral / External”
A grey banner means INKY rated the email as Neutral – not known to be malicious, but from an external sender.
You’ll still see the options:
- Graymail
- Spam
- Phish
- More…
- FAQ
- Protection by INKY
If you recognize the sender and were expecting the email, you can typically proceed as normal. If the sender is unfamiliar, treat links and attachments with extra caution.
Yellow Caution with Extra Warnings: Sensitive Content / First‑Time Sender
In higher‑risk cases, INKY adds additional warnings such as:
- “Caution! This message is potentially suspicious.”
- “Sensitive Content” – The message discusses passwords, account information, or other sensitive data.
- “First-Time Sender” – You’ve never received an email from this address before.
When you see these:
- Be very careful with links and attachments.
- For login, payment, or account requests, go directly to the company’s website instead of using the link in the email.
- If you’re unsure, verify the request using a contact method you trust.
You’ll see Safe, Spam, Phish, and More… on the right.
Label the message accordingly and use More… for additional options.
The “Report This Email” Page
Clicking More… on any banner opens the Report This Email page.
Here you’ll see:
- From: – The sender’s email address
- Subject: – The email subject line
- INKY Result: – How INKY classified the message (for example, “Caution (Graymail)” or “Neutral”)
Below that, you can choose:
- Safe – Message is legitimate
- Spam – Unwanted, non‑malicious junk
- Phishing – A scam or attack
You can optionally:
- Add a comment
- Indicate whether you clicked a link or opened an attachment
- Allow INKY to send the raw message for deeper analysis
At the bottom of this page, you’ll see a very important link:
“Visit the User Dashboard to view all your personal settings.”
This is where you gain personal control.
New: INKY User Dashboard – Your Own Allow & Block Lists
The INKY User Dashboard lets each user control how specific senders are treated.
Go to https://app.inkyphishfence.com/ and log in with your email credentials
From the dashboard, you can:
- Allow List
- Add trusted senders or domains you always want to receive email from.
- This is ideal for newsletters, services, or vendors you rely on that might otherwise be flagged as graymail.
- Block List
- Add senders or domains you never want to hear from again.
- Perfect for persistent marketing you don’t want or senders you consider abusive.
- Graymail Protection
- See whether graymail protection is enabled for your account.
- Adjust how aggressively graymail is handled (depending on your organization’s configuration).
- Summary
- View a quick overview of your team name, how many personal allow/block entries you have, and whether graymail protection is enabled.
To get to the dashboard: You can go to https://app.inkyphishfence.com/ or
- Open an email with an INKY banner.
- Click More… at the right of the banner.
- On the Report This Email page, click “Visit the User Dashboard” at the bottom.
- Sign in (for example, with your Microsoft account) if prompted.
Once you’ve added a sender to your allow or block list, INKY will respect your preference going forward, in addition to the protection configured by Impress Computers.
